Health Education Programs

At Kikorongo Women’s Initiative, we believe that women and girls are born with equal rights, dignity, and value. Yet, in our community and across many parts of Uganda, women and girls still face discrimination, violence, and exclusion simply because of their gender.

Our Women and Girls’ Rights Program stands as a bold commitment to speak out, stand up, and take action for justice and equality. We empower women and girls to know their rights, claim their space, and participate fully in decisions that affect their lives.

Rights Education and Legal Awareness

Many women and girls in rural areas do not know their basic rights — from the right to education, health, and protection from violence, to the right to own property and participate in leadership. We run regular community trainings and radio talks to teach women and girls about their legal rights under Ugandan law and international human rights standards.

Community Dialogues and Advocacy

We engage men, boys, elders, cultural leaders, and religious institutions in open conversations about gender equality. Together, we challenge harmful practices like wife inheritance, gender-based violence, and denial of inheritance rights. Our advocacy work also includes petitions, meetings with local leaders, and campaigns to change mindsets and policies.

Support for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence

We offer a safe and supportive environment for survivors of violence. Through referrals to legal services, healthcare, counseling, and temporary shelter, we help women and girls recover and rebuild their lives with dignity.

Economic Empowerment as a Human Right

Poverty limits choice. That’s why we link our rights work with women’s economic empowerment — because access to land, property, and income is also a right. Through savings groups, business training, and skills development, we help women stand on their own feet.

A Voice for the Voiceless

We are raising a generation of women and girls who are no longer afraid to speak. No longer afraid to lead. No longer afraid to dream.
When women and girls know their rights, they can protect themselves, uplift their families, and transform their communities.

We won’t stop until every woman and girl in Kikorongo is treated with the respect, freedom, and equality she deserves.
