Early Marriages and Teenage Pregnancies

In Kikorongo, too many young girls are forced to grow up too fast. Poverty, limited access to education, and harmful cultural beliefs have led to a high number of early marriages and teenage pregnancies in our community. At Kikorongo Women’s Initiative, we believe every girl deserves the chance to dream, grow, and build a future on her own terms.

Our Early Marriages and Teenage Pregnancies Program is a powerful stand against these challenges. We work hand in hand with families, schools, religious leaders, and local authorities to protect girls, raise awareness, and create long-lasting change.

Community Education and Sensitization

We hold regular dialogues, community meetings, and outreach campaigns to educate parents and guardians about the dangers of early marriage and early pregnancy. We encourage them to value girls' education and support their daughters to stay in school.

Mentorship and Counseling

We connect at-risk girls with strong female mentors who guide, counsel, and inspire them. Trained counselors also provide one-on-one support for girls affected by early pregnancy or at risk of dropping out of school.

Reintegration Support for Teenage Mothers

For girls who become pregnant, we do not abandon them. Instead, we help them access health services, childcare support, and re-enrollment into school or vocational training so they can still pursue their dreams.

Advocacy and Policy Engagement

We advocate for the strict enforcement of laws against child marriage and sexual abuse. We work with leaders to strengthen child protection systems and report cases of abuse.

Let Girls Shine: Empowering Her Choice, Securing Her Future

We believe that when you educate a girl, you empower a generation. Our goal is to create a community where girls are free to say “no” to early marriage and “yes” to education, health, and hope.

Together, we are building a future where every girl in Kikorongo can shine as bright as the sun she was named after.
